Our Grading Scale
Every card is graded on a 1–10 scale across four criteria: corners, edges, surface, and centering. No inflation. No guesswork. Just honest grades.
Corners
Examined under magnification for fraying, rounding, or wear at all four corners.
Edges
Checked for chipping, roughness, nicks, or any damage along all four edges.
Surface
Inspected for scratches, print lines, staining, creases, or any surface defects on front and back.
Centering
Measured as a percentage ratio (e.g. 60/40) comparing border widths on opposite sides.
The Scale
Grades 1 Through 10
Pristine
A virtually perfect card. Four perfectly sharp corners, no surface wear, no print defects, and near-perfect centering (55/45 or better). Extremely rare.
Corners: Sharp, no wear whatsoever
Edges: Clean, no nicks or chips
Surface: No scratches, stains, or print lines
Centering: 55/45 or better on all sides
Mint
A high-quality card with only the slightest imperfection. Corners are nearly perfect with minimal wear. Centering within 60/40.
Corners: Near perfect, one minor touch of wear allowed
Edges: Clean with minimal imperfection
Surface: Minor print spots or very light scratches
Centering: 60/40 or better
Near Mint–Mint
A sharp, well-centered card with slight corner wear on one or two corners. Surface is clean with minor imperfections.
Corners: Slight wear on one or two corners
Edges: Minor roughness allowed
Surface: Light scratches or print lines visible under scrutiny
Centering: 65/35 or better
Near Mint
A card with slight corner wear on two or more corners. Surface may show minor scratches. Still a very presentable card.
Corners: Light wear on two or more corners
Edges: Minor chipping or roughness
Surface: Light scratches visible under light
Centering: 70/30 or better
Excellent–Mint
Moderate corner wear on two or more corners. Surface may show light scratches or minor print defects. Centering within 75/25.
Corners: Moderate wear on two or more corners
Edges: Some roughness or minor chips
Surface: Noticeable light scratches
Centering: 75/25 or better
Excellent
Noticeable corner wear on all four corners. Surface shows scratches and possible minor creases. Still a solid mid-grade card.
Corners: Noticeable wear on all four corners
Edges: Roughness and minor chips present
Surface: Scratches and possible light creases
Centering: 80/20 or better
Very Good–Excellent
Heavy corner wear on all four corners. Surface shows significant scratches or minor creases. Card is still intact with no major damage.
Corners: Heavy wear on all corners
Edges: Chips and roughness throughout
Surface: Significant scratches or light creases
Centering: May be noticeably off-center
Very Good
Very heavy corner wear. Creases may be present. Surface shows significant wear. Card is still complete with no missing pieces.
Corners: Very heavy rounding and fraying
Edges: Heavy chipping and roughness
Surface: Creases, heavy scratches, or staining
Centering: Significant misalignment possible
Good
Heavily worn card with major creases, staining, or surface damage. Card is complete but shows significant signs of heavy use.
Corners: Severely rounded and frayed
Edges: Heavy damage throughout
Surface: Major creases, staining, or writing
Centering: Heavily misaligned
Poor
A card that has been heavily mishandled. May have tape, tears, missing pieces, or severe damage. Graded for authenticity purposes only.
Corners: Completely rounded or missing
Edges: Severe damage, possible tears
Surface: Tape, writing, tears, or severe staining
Centering: Extremely misaligned or trimmed
